University of Hawai at Manoa  Engineering Scholarships 2009

Introduction: The College of Engineering at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa is offering two, merit-based scholarships for $5,000 each, to a junior or senior level engineering students transferring from a mainland institution into the University of Hawai`i at Manoa College of Engineering. The scholarship is renewable for up to two years to a total of $10,000, contingent upon maintaining good academic standing. Each recipient must meet the regular academic requirements for admission to the College.

Eligibility: To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
1.Be a full-time, junior or senior level student who plans to major in engineering at the University of Hawai`i at Manoa College of Engineering
2.Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above upon transferring into the College of Engineering and must maintain it to renew the scholarship
3.Have no criminal felony record as self-affirmed through the application process
4.Have graduated from a Hawai`i high school
5.Preference shall be given to Electrical or Mechanical Engineering students
6.Preference for US Citizenship

Introduction: Hawai’i Pacific University offers this partial-tuition scholarship to students who will graduate from high schools or will be transferring from colleges/universities across the nation. This scholarship is offered once per academic year and is awarded for the fall and spring semesters only.

Eligibility:
1.A high school or college cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00.
2.College transfer students may transfer a maximum of 31 college credits to HPU.
3.Demonstrate involvement extra-curricular activities and community service.
4.Demonstrate financial need.

Introduction: Hawai’i Pacific University offers this partial-tuition scholarship to students who will graduate from high schools across the nation. This scholarship is offered once per academic year and is awarded for the fall and spring semesters only.

Eligibility:
1. A high school cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 and scoring in the top 10% on the SAT, ACT, or international equivalent tests; or be in the top 3% of graduating class.
2. Eligible majors include Chemistry, Marine Biology, Mathematics, Oceanography, and Pre-Medical Studies.

College of Communication Kalamalama Journalism Scholarships 2009

Introduction: The Hawai‘i Pacific University College of Communication Scholarship Program was created to recognize outstanding men and women in Hawai‘i and the U. S. Mainland who have the potential to become leaders in the communication field.This program offers 50% tuition-waiver scholarships to entering high school graduates and new transfer students who plan to pursue a degree in Journalism or Strategic Communication (advertising/public relations) and a career in these or a related communication industry. Recipients must also be willing to work a minimum of 10 hours per week on the staff of the University newspaper, Kalamalama, as journalists or advertising sales assistants.Scholarships are awarded for the fall and spring semesters and may be renewed for three additional years. Work assignments must also be fulfilled during the fall and spring semesters.

Eligibility: 1.Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 supported by a current official transcript sent directly to the HPU Admissions Office.
2.Have your high school newspaper advisor, English teacher, or business instructor fill in the recommendation form and/or submit a letter of recommendation.
3.The applicant must be willing to work 10 hours per week each semester as an advertising or editorial assistant.

2.Enclose an essay (one to two pages) describing your educational and personal objectives for a career in journalism or strategic communication.

Introduction: The Hawai‘i Pacific University College of Communication Scholarship Program was created to recognize outstanding men and women in Hawai‘i and the U. S.
