Introduction: 2009 MRA Educational Foundation/NRA Educational Foundation Co-branded Scholarship Applications are now available. The scholarships are available to ProStart seniors, undergraduates, high school seniors and graduates, and GED certificate holders.

Eligibility: To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must:
1.Be a student who is accepted to or is currently enrolled in an accredited culinary school, college or university.
2.Have earned a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.65 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
3.ProStart seniors and other high school seniors must have a minimum of 250 hours, and high school graduates, undergraduates and GED certificate holders must have a minimum of 750 hours.

Ferris Statae University -  Alumni Association Legacy Scholarships 2009

Introduction: The Alumni Association Legacy Scholarship recognizes academic achievements and leadership potential in students whose parent(s), sibling(s) or grandparent(s) is a Ferris State University Alumna(us). For purposes of this scholarship, an alumna(us) is defined as someone who attended Ferris State and received a certificate or diploma.

Eligibility: To be considered for this competitive scholarship a student must:
1.Be the child, sibling or grandchild of a Ferris Alumna(us).
2Have a 2.75 cumulative Grade Point Average at the end of fall semester.
3.Have completed a minimum of two full-time semesters. Please note:
i)  Students seeking an associate degree must have completed 30 hours at the end of spring semester
ii) Students seeking a bachelor’s degree must have completed 56 hours at the end of spring semester.
iii)Preference will be given to students in their final year at FSU

How to Apply: 1.Submit this application including an essay describing personal career goals and the role a Ferris State degree will play in the achievement of these goals.
2.Submit a letter from the Ferris State University Alumna(us) parent, sibling or grandparent, describing the effect their educational experiences at Ferris had on their life or professional career.
3.Submit the attached recommendation completed by a Ferris Faculty or Staff member.

Eligibility: Students competing for this award must have a minimum 3.5 GPA at MBCC and be graduates of one of the Boston public high schools. Recipients must enroll as juniors at Boston University with a minimum of 60 transferable credits.

Massachusetts Convention Center Authority’s (MCCA) Hospitality Scholarships 2009

Introduction: The MCCA’s Hospitality Scholarship Program encourages professional development within the visitor and hospitality industry by awarding scholarships to Massachusetts high school seniors who are graduating from an accredited high school or college students who are currently enrolled as hospitality industry majors at a two- or four-year accredited higher education institution. Four scholarships of $2,500 each are available annually to Massachusetts residents—two from Boston and two from other areas of the Commonwealth.

Eligibility: All applicants will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
1.Complete application submission by deadline, no exceptions.
2.High school senior at an accredited high school or full-time, matriculated college student with declared major affiliated with the hospitality industry.
3.Cumulative credits reflecting the status of a senior in high school or that of a rising sophomore, junior or senior in college.
4.Resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
5.Plans to seek a career in the hospitality, convention or tourism industry.
6.Student with hospitality or convention industry related experience is preferred.
7.Two Letters of Recommendation.
8.Official High School/College Transcript – no copies, no unofficial or any other facsimile will be accepted.
9.Personal essay of 500-600 words.

The Raytheon Company - Robotics Scholarships

The Raytheon Company and FIRST Robotics Scholarships

Introduction: Raytheon Company has established a scholarship program to assist students participating on FIRST teams who plan to continue their education in college as math, science or technology majors. The program supports a wide range of educational options, including vocational and technical training, associate and bachelor’s degrees. Scholarships are offered for full-time study beginning sophomore, junior or senior year at an accredited institution or program of the student’s choice.

Eligibility:  Students who have participated on a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team or on a FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team in high school are eligible. Awards won during senior year in high school are applied during the sophomore year in college. High school seniors selected for an award will be required to submit official transcripts for their first year of undergraduate study, showing proof of full-time enrollment and “student in good standing” status. Full-time study is defined as carrying a full course load for the entire upcoming academic year.

Interested students must complete the e-application and submit it by April 30, 2009. Upon submission, applicants will receive acknowledgement via email from Scholarship Management Services. Annual program to provide graduate students and recent college graduates with teaching experience at Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass. A summer teaching Assistant Program is also available.

Fields: Art, English, mathematics, classics, French, German, Spanish, Russian, biology, chemistry, physics, music, physical education, history, philosophy, and religion.

-Graduate students are eligible.
