The Pennsylvania New Economy Technology  (NETS) Scholarships 2009-10

Introduction: The Pennsylvania New Economy Technology Scholarship (NETS) Program provides scholarships for Pennsylvania students who are pursuing higher education and training in science and technology fields. Two different scholarships  the SciTech Scholarship and the Technology Scholarship  are awarded through this program.

Eligibility: A student must:
1.Be a resident of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
2.Be a high school graduate.
3.Be enrolled at a PHEAA-approved Pennsylvania school.
4.Maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or the equivalent during postsecondary study; this will be checked annually, at the end of each Spring term.
5.Commence employment in Pennsylvania in a field related to a NETS approved program of study within one year after completion of studies, and continue employment, one year for each academic year that the scholarship was awarded. A deferment of the employment obligation is available for those students who enroll in full-time graduate study within one year of the student’s receipt of a baccalaureate degree or who continue full-time study to obtain a first baccalaureate degree.
6.Apply for a Federal Pell Grant and Pennsylvania State Grant.

How to Apply: First-time student applicants must complete this Application and Master Promissory Note and submit it to PHEAA.Students who received NETS funds in prior years must only file a 2009-10  Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for a State Grant and Federal Pell Grant by September 30, 2009  in order to be considered for NETS funds in the 2009-10  academic year.

Pennsylvania College of Technology Scholarships

Introduction: The Pennsylvania College of Technology, a special mission affiliate of Penn State University, committed to applied technology, offers one $1,500 scholarship to a deserving student who participated on a FIRST Team during his/her junior or senior high school years.

Eligibility:  The student must meet the regular academic requirements for admission, and may enroll in any course of study. Preference will be given to those seeking an associate’s degree in Computer Aided Drafting Technology

How to Apply:  Eligible students who have been admitted to Penn College must send a letter to the Financial Aid Office, enclosing documentation about their attendance at a FIRST competition during their junior or senior year in high school. Send the letter and documentation to Pennsylvania College of Technology, Attention: Director of Financial Aid, One College Avenue, Williamsport, PA 17701-5799.

Sallie Mae Fund - First In My Family Scholarships

SALLIE MAE FUND FIRST IN MY FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

Introduction: The Sallie Mae Fund First in My Family Scholarship Program is dedicated to assisting students who are the first person in their family to attend college.

Eligibility: Must be of Hispanic background
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident residing in the United States.
Must be an undergraduate student for the upcoming year who attends school in the United States or Puerto Rico.
Must be studying full-time in the United States or Puerto Rico
Must have a minimum GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Must demonstrate financial need
Must be first in family to attend college for the upcoming academic year

How to Apply: Official transcript - Postmarked by April 15th
Proof of family income - Postmarked by April 15th
Proof of citizenship status - Postmarked by April 15th
Essay - Submitted online by April 15th
Letter of Recommendation - Submitted online by April 15th
Resume - Submitted online by April 15th
Financial Aid verification (if chosen as semi finalist only) - Submitted online by June 30th.

Sallie Mae Fund - American Dream Scholarships 2009

Sallie Mae Fund AMERICAN DREAM SCHOLARSHIP 2009

Introduction: Established in partnership with the United Negro College Fund, the American Dream Scholarship Program is open to African Americans with financial need.

Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents,with a minimum 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), who meet Pell Grant eligibility criteria, and are enrolled full time at approved, accredited, undergraduate institutions.
