Delmer Scott Scholarships 2009

Introduction: This scholarship is one of five awards established by local philanthropists to benefit graduating high school seniors from the Alcester community. It’s namesake, Delmer Scott, graduated from Alcester High School in 1966.Delmer’s brother James and his family created this award in his memory. Delmer had a special affinity for agriculture and took particular pleasure in being a part of the Future Farmers of America organization while he was in school.That’s why the Scott family designated this award to benefit an Alcester senior who has showed outstanding effort in agriculture courses or in the local FFA chapter.

Eligibility:
1.Be graduating seniors of Alcester-Hudson High School.
2.Have participated in agriculture courses or FFA at Alcester.
3.Demonstrate financial need.

Gordon Ingwersen School of Mines & Technology Scholarships 2009

Introduction: Gordon Ingwersen considers Sioux Falls his home. He attended Longfellow Elementary School and graduated from Washington High School in 1940. He attended the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City and graduated with a B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering

Eligibility:
Be Sioux Falls public or private high school graduating seniors.
Plan to attend the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.
Plan to study engineering and pursue a career in the engineering field.
Demonstrate financial need and academic achievement.

Anna and Paul Lind Scholarships 2009

Introduction: This scholarship is one of five awards established by local philanthropists to benefit graduating high school seniors from the Alcester community. Anna Lind and Paul Lind — brother and sister — were life-long residents of the area.Originally an anonymous scholarship, this fund was established by Paul. He funded the award with current gifts starting in 1987 until he passed away in 1991. Anna passed away a short time later in 1994. Some of the proceeds from the sale of the Lind family’s farmland near Alcester formed the bequest that has funded this scholarship since.

David L. Profilet Scholarships 2009

Introduction: This scholarship was established in 1998 by Louis and Joyce Profilet to commemorate their son David. Born October 22, 1958, David was raised in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School. He was was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the YMCA

Eligibility:
Be South Dakota high school graduates.
Plan to attend Augustana College.
Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Demonstrate financial need.
Show character traits such as courage, determination, and ability to overcome adversity.
