Red Hot And  Snazzy Benefit Gala Scholarship 2009/10

Introduction:
This scholarship program is open to Texas based college students. It is a result of proceeds from a Live Auction during the UNCF Dallas, TX office’ s Red, Hot & Snazzy Benefit Gala in which personal donations were made by employees and guests of Exxon Mobil, Frito-Lay Inc, Bernard Harris Foundation, BNSF Railway, American Airlines, Coca-Cola , AT &T, Wachovia, Nationwide Insurance and others. The Red, Hot & Snazzy Benefit Gala Scholarships has been established to support the educational development and career aspirations of deserving, yet financially disadvantaged, students. It will offer higher education opportunities to bright, talented young people and allow them to connect with positive academic role models and develop leadership skills for future success. UNCF is grateful to all those that contributed to the scholarship fund and for investing in the future of our communities. (more…)

Introduction: Malcolm Pirnie is dedicated to increasing the numbers of underrepresented minorities in engineering. Malcolm Pirnie is seeking Sophomores, Juniors and FIRST YEAR graduate students majoring in Civil, Environmental & Chemical Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, and Info Technology.

Eligibility: Applicants must attend an accredited U.S. college or university sophomore students attending two year colleges may apply if they have FIRM commitments to an engineering bachelor’s program. Scholarship assistance and a 10- 12 week summer internship will be awarded to selected candidates who are US Citizens or permanent residents. Housing stipends may be provided, if applicable.

James Stenholtz Scholarships 2009

Introduction: Lennard Stenholtz established this scholarship to memorialize his son. Even though Lennard and Margaret outlived their only child by many years — she until 1980 and him until 1989 — the couple never forgot how difficult it was to say goodbye to James. This scholarship is their way of celebrating his life and how much he meant to their family.

Introduction: Milton Hershey established the Hershey Chocolate Company in 1894, manufacturing and selling Hershey’s cocoa, Hershey’s backing chocolate and Hershey’s sweet chocolate. Hershey was called by ” Henry Ford of Chocolate” because of the mass production of quality chocolate bars at an affordable cost. Mr. Hershey’s belief that an individual is morally obligated to share the fruits of success with others resulted in significant contributions to society. Together with his wife, Catherine, he established the most prominent of his philanthropic endeavors- the Hershey Industrial School - 1909 now called Milton Hershey School. Keeping with the legacy of this great individual, The Hershey Company partnered with United Negro College Fund, Inc. to create the UNCF/The Hershey Company Scholarship.

3.High School Seniors attending Harrisburg High school, J.P. McCaskey High school,and Lebanon High school are only eligible to apply.
