Massachusetts Convention Center Authority’s (MCCA) Hospitality Scholarships 2009

Introduction: The MCCA’s Hospitality Scholarship Program encourages professional development within the visitor and hospitality industry by awarding scholarships to Massachusetts high school seniors who are graduating from an accredited high school or college students who are currently enrolled as hospitality industry majors at a two- or four-year accredited higher education institution. Four scholarships of $2,500 each are available annually to Massachusetts residents—two from Boston and two from other areas of the Commonwealth.

Eligibility: All applicants will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
1.Complete application submission by deadline, no exceptions.
2.High school senior at an accredited high school or full-time, matriculated college student with declared major affiliated with the hospitality industry.
3.Cumulative credits reflecting the status of a senior in high school or that of a rising sophomore, junior or senior in college.
4.Resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
5.Plans to seek a career in the hospitality, convention or tourism industry.
6.Student with hospitality or convention industry related experience is preferred.
7.Two Letters of Recommendation.
8.Official High School/College Transcript – no copies, no unofficial or any other facsimile will be accepted.
9.Personal essay of 500-600 words.
