Introduction: UNCF and employees of Dallas ISD are pleased to announce the Dallas ISD Scholarship program for 2008-2009. Applicants are required to be a graduating senior from a Dallas independent school district high school. Applicants must be enrolled full-time at a historically black college or university. Scholarships award amount is up to $2,500 and will be awarded to students who demonstrate financial need and academic potential.

City of Cleveland - Mayor Jackson Scholarship for Children of Employees
Introduction: Since 1990, the City of Cleveland employees have generously contributed to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) through the United Way Combined Campaign. Beginning in 2008, children of City of Cleveland employees will be eligible to apply for scholarships under the Mayor Frank G. Jackson Student Scholarship Program.
Eligibility: Applicants Must
Be the child of a City of Cleveland employee with a cumulative 2.5 grade point average AND classified as a freshman, sophomore or junior in the 2009-2010 academic year.

Introduction: The Beverly J. Gilliam Scholarship for Foreign Study offers financial assistance to students who are accepted into recognized study abroad programs for the Summer 2009. The goal of the Scholarship is to help students gain international experiences that will help them to become better world citizens and successfully compete in the global job market. Beverly J. Gilliam (1928 ? 1998) was educated in the New York Public School System graduated from City University of New York and received a master?s degree from Columbia University School of Library Science. Her career started in Asia where she was responsible for setting up and managing American libraries in Korea and Japan as well as libraries at U.S. military installations in Europe. Throughout her life, Ms Gilliam?s favorite pastime was international travel. She strongly felt that the world would be a better place if more people experienced life in cultures different from their own.

Alfred Chisholm / BASF Memorial Scholarships - 2009/10
Introduction: The Alfred Chisholm / BASF Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 to honor the life of a former BASF employee, Alfred L. Chisholm, who served as a leader in his community, and who was instrumental in raising thousands of dollars to assist students pursuing a college degree.
In memory of Mr. Chisholm and with the support of BASF Corporation’s African American Employee Group (AAEG), two(2) deserving students will receive $5000 one time, non-renewable scholarship, to assist in furthering their college education for the 2009-10 academic year.
Eligibility: 1.Minimum GPA:2.7
2.The scholarship is available to undergraduate students enrolled at Historically Black Colleges or Universities , and who must have relatives employed by BASF Corporation. Applicants meeting all the criteria will be forwarded to the BASF Corporation African American Employee Group, Al Chisholm Scholarship Committee for final selection.
How to Apply:
1.Two letters of recommendation:
a) one from a faculty member familiar with the applicant’s academic abilities.
b) one from a civic or community leader, must be uploaded to the application by the recomenders by April 24, 2009.
2. Two-page, double-spaced essay stating personal objectives and community services, must be uploaded to the application by the applicants by April 24, 2009. .
3. Most recent official transcript, must be mailed to UNCF by April 24, 2009.

University of California - Davis First Scholarships 2009
Introduction: The University of California, Davis is pleased to offer one $7,500 scholarship for FIRST Robotics Competition participants. The scholarship is available to students who have participated in one full season in a regional or national FIRST competition and who have applied and been admitted to UC Davis. Scholarships are renewable for four years, provided students maintain full-time enrollment and a 3.25 cumulative GPA. The scholarship recipient will also be guaranteed a space in Integrated Studies, the campus’ first-year residential honors program, and will have priority course registration and receive extended library privileges.
Eligibility:
1.Students must have participated in at least one full season in a regional or national FIRST Robotics Competition
2.Students must have applied and be admitted as an undergraduate to the University of California, Davis for fall 2009
How to Apply: Eligible students must have completed the UC application for admission and scholarships and selected Davis as a campus of choice. Additionally, the student must have indicated participation in a FIRST competition through the restricted scholarship section of the application.
