Introduction: Milton Hershey established the Hershey Chocolate Company in 1894, manufacturing and selling Hershey’s cocoa, Hershey’s backing chocolate and Hershey’s sweet chocolate. Hershey was called by ” Henry Ford of Chocolate” because of the mass production of quality chocolate bars at an affordable cost. Mr. Hershey’s belief that an individual is morally obligated to share the fruits of success with others resulted in significant contributions to society. Together with his wife, Catherine, he established the most prominent of his philanthropic endeavors- the Hershey Industrial School - 1909 now called Milton Hershey School. Keeping with the legacy of this great individual, The Hershey Company partnered with United Negro College Fund, Inc. to create the UNCF/The Hershey Company Scholarship.
